Shopping, Pampering and Fun For an Important Cause!
Get ready to shop, learn something new and be entertained at Divas’ Day Out Sept. 17, 2016, in the Fernandina Beach Atlantic Rec Center Auditorium. Our fun event will benefit Girl Power 2 Cure, a nonprofit working to cure Rett Syndrome.

Jazzercise – 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
What: Jazzercise, Fernandina’s workout program that incorporates exercise and dance moves for a full workout that includes cardio and toning, will demonstrate some of their moves. With workout routines set to popular tunes, it’s hard NOT to want to join in!

Ballroom on Amelia – 11 a.m.
What: Ballroom on Amelia offers group classes and private lessons in ballroom dancing. Some of their best adult dancers will sweep you off your feet with their beautiful moves on stage.

Retail Therapy Consignment and Wiggle Worms Mother-Daughter Fashion Show – 12 p.m.
What: Retail Therapy Consignment will show you what’s in and teach you how to get the look for less in its fashion show, and – for the younger divas – Wiggle Worms will be bringing some adorable kids on stage to model their kids’ fashions, as well! We’ll also have our first maternity model this year, modeling a maternity outfit from Wiggle Worms. We can’t wait to see the show!

Bodyworks of NE Florida Aerial Dance – 12:30 p.m.
What: Bodyworks of NE Florida uses massive silk fabrics to perform aerial dance which actually is a fantastic workout. Some of their youngest aerial dancers will perform on stage, hanging from silks that will be rigged up to the auditorium ceiling. It’s a sight you won’t want to miss!

What: Cottonways, a clothing and jewelry store in downtown Fernandina Beach, will show off its prewashed cotton gauze fashions. Their colorful clothes are the best of both worlds: comfortable and beautiful!

What: This booth, sponsored and managed by Royal Amelia Dance Academy, gives the little ones a chance to dress up in their favorite diva getup. What: Paul Mitchell The School Jacksonville, a beauty school, will be at Divas’ Day Out to make divas of all ages look lovely, with free hairstyling and glitter tattoos.

A visit from Minnie Mouse and her friends
What: Miss Mascot Rentals, a Yulee-based business that offers costumed characters for special events, will visit with all our little divas from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Minnie Mouse and a couple of her friends will be on hand for meet and greets and photo ops with the little ones.

A Hand to Hold Doula
What: Popular local doula Rebecca Claire McKinney will be at Divas’ Day Out to introduce herself and her services as a birth doula, perinatal fitness instructor, placenta encapsulation specialist and childbirth educator. She will also have information on other pregnancy-related resources in our area. Her booth will include a cozy spot for moms who want to sit and nurse or bottle feed their babies. There will be bottled water and homemade lactation cookies for mom to snack on. Rebecca will even share the recipe for the cookies! She’ll also supply a changing table for mamas with little ones in tow.

Girl Power 2 Cure
What: Girl Power 2 Cure is on a mission to end Rett Syndrome, a devastating neurological disorder that strikes almost exclusively in girls, taking away motor skills like walking and talking. It is the most severe form of autism. Thankfully, there is a lot of research pointing toward a cure on the horizon. Girl Power 2 Cure is based on Amelia Island and serves families all over the U.S. They can tell you more about their work and how to get involved at their booth.
