Ladies of every age (and any men brave enough to tag along!) are invited to Divas’ Day Out, a day of pampering for a good cause in Fernandina Beach’s Atlantic Rec Center Auditorium May 11.
We’re so excited to tell you about this event, hosted by Mamamelia.com, which will benefit Girl Power 2 Cure. This Amelia Island-based nonprofit is hunting down a cure for Rett Syndrome, a debilitating neurological disorder that strikes in young girls and stays with them for life. It is a sad condition, but there is hope! It is the first neurological disorder ever proven to be reversible. Girl Power is beloved all over the country for bringing a positive message of hope to this dark disorder. Check out their video below, which shows people all over the country helping them battle Rett.
To help raise funds for this worthy cause, we’re getting together to enjoy a wildly fun day with demonstrations, dozens of vendors, even beauty treatments! On stage, we’ll have a fashion show; women’s self defense; and Zumba, among others. We’ll also have the “big reveal” for our makeover winner. And you can get an updo, have your eyebrows done or even get temporary eyelash extensions on site!
Our vendors will offer merchandise in categories like fashion, jewelry, makeup, health, fitness, cooking and home goods. Professional photographers will be shooting “Diva Portraits.” My Personal Chef will be selling delicious “feel good” meals. Since it’s the day before Mother’s Day, we’ll also have great booths where you can make personalized gifts for your mother, including a Close to My Heart “Make and Take” scrap-booking booth and an Origami Owl booth, where you can make your mom a “living locket.” A portion of each sale will benefit Girl Power 2 Cure. And there will be tons of valuable items raffled off to benefit Girl Power 2 Cure.
Of course we’ll have offerings for the little ones, too! I’m excited to see the littlest divas at the “Diva Dress Up station” by Lisa Allen’s School of Dance. Every hour, girls playing dress-up will be invited on stage for a mini fashion show. There will also be a Tupperware Cupcake Decorating zone, crafts, and more… and make sure you stop by the kid-friendly Girl Power 2 Cure booth.
