This weekyou can take the kids to Green Cove Spring’s Strawberry Festival, packed with fun for kids, or see some of the most stunning cars in the world for free on Amelia Island. Mamamelia’s Top 10 Event Picks for the Week Ahead

1) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: Strawberry Festival / Green Cove Springs

Clay County’s Strawberry Festival is FULL of fun for kids, not to mention the Delicious Food — including Plant City Strawberries and Strawberry Shortcake. Among our favorite kid-approved features, there will be Free Bounce Houses, Pony Rides, Face Painting, a Hula Hoop Contest, Free Petting Zoo, Train Rides, Free Inside Toddler Play Area, Free Bean Bag Toss, Free Sack Races, and more! 2) Starting Thursday: Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance / Amelia Island

Automobile aficionados flock to Amelia Island for the legendary Amelia Concours Week, featuring rare and vintage vehicle auctions, driving experiences, and high style for the true connoisseur of all things car. Featuring The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Concours Week, from March 8-11, 2018, is sure to make pulses race. Here are two free ways to see the high-end cars:

  • Friday March 9, around lunchtime: A stunning tour of beautiful vehicles starts at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island and stops at various points on and around Amelia Island and concludes with a public display and lunch in downtown Fernandina Beach. Free to see!
  • Saturday, March 10, 9am – 1pm, The Golf Club of Amelia Island: The Amelia’s Cars & Coffee at the Concours allows individuals with vintage, exotic, and collectible vehicles to gather on the same show field used to display vehicles entered in the following day’s prestigious Concours d’Elegance. Proud owners of beautiful collectible and exotic vehicles gather with like-minded enthusiasts on the fairways for a cup or two of fresh coffee. The AICDE views Cars & Coffee as a gift to the community, a family-friendly “thank you” for supporting the event.

3) 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday: Repticon Reptile Show / Jacksonville

This show features reptile and amphibian breeders and wholesalers, reptile pet products and supplies, educational seminars and exhibits, and fun-filled activities for the entire family. Kids can meet snakes, spiders and other creepy crawlers up close. Details at

Two Sisters Travel4) 10:30 a.m. Saturday: Kids’ Story Time at Story & Song Bookstore / Fernandina Beach

Come enjoy story time at Story and Song Bookstore on Park Avenue, right off 14th Street on the island. All kids are invited to listen to stories and participate in a craft.

5) 6 p.m. Fridays: Ghost Tours / Fernandina Beach

Guests on this tour will learn Amelia Island ghost stories as they tiptoe through dark streets and walk in the footsteps of a bygone era as the past comes alive through the skillful storytelling of your guide. Meet your guide in the cemetary behind St. Peters Episcopal church located at 801 Atlantic Avenue. Tickets may be purchased at the Museum for $10/adults and $5/students (or from the guide before the tour, by check or cash only). Ghost tours are offered every Friday at 6.

6) 10 a.m. Friday: Toddler Time at Sweet Pete’s / Jacksonville

Toddler Time is a sweet outing for little ones ages 2-4 years old. Each toddler will learn how chocolate is made, enjoy a story and create a sweet treat based on the story! Toddler Time happens every Friday at 10 a.m. for approximately 45 minutes. $7.50 per-person. Space is limited, so reservations are required. Have a group? 7) 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday: The Wizard of Oz at Thrasher Horne Center for the Arts / Orange Park

There truly is no place like home as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz twists its way into Orange Park! The entire family will be captivated as they travel down the Yellow Brick Road and beyond with Dorothy, Toto, and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, and Scarecrow in this lavish production, featuring breathtaking special effects, dazzling choreography and classic songs. A spectacular celebration of the iconic 1939 MGM film, The Wizard of Oz will blow you away from the moment the tornado touches down and transports you to a dazzling Oz, complete with munchkins and flying monkeys. Don’t miss the chance to travel Over the Rainbow and experience this national treasure on stage. Please note: THE WIZARD OF OZ contains potential flying monkey sightings, a spooky witch and catchy songs you’ll be singing for days. Tickets start at $49. 8) This weekend: Regency Square Mall Carnival / Jacksonville

This family-friendly event features favorite fair food, carnival games and midway rides for all ages, from whimsical kiddie rides to state-of-the-art thrill rides that include the brand-new Super Cyclone Rollercoaster. Unlimited ride wristbands are available onsite for $25 Monday – Thursday and $30 Friday – Sunday, and in advance for $30 for 2 wristbands at (Online sale ends at 5 pm Thurs., March 1.) Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus 1 free ride. Rides take 3 or more tickets each. 9) 6 p.m. Thursday: Free Teen Movie Night for Kids Ages 12 and Up at Fernandina Library / Fernandina

10) Weekly: Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary Day Tours and Night Feedings / Jacksonville

Enjoy a guided tour of all of this sanctuary’s majestic residents (Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, black leopards, a bobcat, 4 coatimundis and 2 foxes). Learn more at Below are hours and fees:

  • Day Tours begin most Thursdays at 1 p.m. and leave every 30 minutes, lasting about 45 minutes, with a viewing of all residents, as time allows, along with facts about the animals. (Note: They’re open until 4 but stop admitting people at 3:15). Cost: Adults: $10; Children (3-11): $5; 2 & Under: Always Free.
  • Night Tours — which include seeing feedings — are offered most Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, with gates open at 6 p.m. To be sure you see the feedings, arrive at the ranch by 7:15 p.m. to allow for adequate time for check-in and walking to the feeding point. At 7:30 p.m., you will get to watch over 450 pounds of meat distributed throughout the sanctuary. Get ready to see the animals’ “wild” side – there’s sure to be plenty of roaring.
