What’s even more beautiful than a historic, charming town at Christmastime? Seeing that town step back in time to a Victorian era Christmas!

Every year in downtown Fernandina Beach, Dickens on Centre turns our beautiful downtown into a town that could have been straight out of Charles Dickens’ beloved story, A Christmas Carol.

There will be plenty of fun for kids throughout the whole event — from sipping hot cocoa, to Victorian era Christmas carolers, to live entertainment — but there will also be a kids’ zone just for them. All weekend, the kids’ zone will have fun activities like writing letters to Santa, games like an organment toss and holiday corn hole, giant chess, giant checkers and giant Jenga, holiday crafts, rocking horses and more.

Below is the schedule of events for the special weekend, which takes place on Fernandina’s Centre Street and the surrounding neighborhood:

Friday, Dec. 8.

  • Open 5-9: Kids’ Zone, carolers, live entertainment, Santa visits and vendor booths.
  • 5pm- Victorian Evensong: St. Peter’s Episcopal church is offering an evensong service with Christmas Carols in the Victorian Style to open the Dickens on Center festival on Friday. They will use the Book of Common Prayer and ushers will wear Victorian attire. Enjoy carols and hot cider at the service.
