Fall fun is really kicking off this week with the opening of Conner’s A-Maize-Ing Acres corn maze, the kickoff of Spooktacular at the zoo, and of course the beloved Northeast Florida Fair.

1) Starting today! and continuing through Oct. 22: Northeast Florida Fair / Callahan

The Northeast Florida Fair kicks off in Callahan Oct. 12-22. This beloved fair at the Northeast Florida Fairgrounds in Callahan features all the fixings of a fantastic fair: rides, amazing food, rodeos, entertainment. Details here.

Monkey-Barrel-Ad2) 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday: Opening Day at Conner’s A-Maize-Ing Acres / Hilliard

A local favorite fall destination opens officially today: Conner’s A-Maize-Ing Acres, a corn maze and so much more on a Hilliard country farm. Explore the corn maze with your family, take a hay ride, play games, see the farm animals and pick your pumpkin! Today is also Conners’ “Redneck Olympics.” Starting heat times begin at 1 1 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Be sure to get there early to sign up for your favorite game, such as apple bobbing, Redneck Nascar races, dear factor eating challenge, post hole digging and more. Food available for purchase too. Flashlight Maze from Dark – 10 pm. 3) 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday: Conagree and Penn Open Farm Day / Jacksonville

Congaree and Penn will be open for families to explore the farm by foot, bike, or hay ride. Pick your favorite pumpkin, take an educational farm tour and enjoy the property. Admission is $10 per car and can be purchased at the farm the day of the event by cash or credit card. Vendors and activities include Tin Can Photo Lounge, sampling by Wicked Barley Brewing Company, crafts and activities with Creative Grain Studio, Bumble and Bee Babysitting, Front Porch Pickings, a music hour sponsored by Bay & Bee, and more local and family-friendly fun, through a partnership with our pals at Jacksonville Mom’s Blog.

4) 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday: Jax Symphony Orchestra Presents Harry Potter at Daily’s Place / Jacksonville

How cool is this? The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra is offering a night to relive a favorite Harry Potter movie WITH fantastic live music. Relive the film that started it all. Watch the wand choose the wizard, a troll run amok and magic mirrors in high-definition while the Jacksonville Symphony performs John Williams’ iconic score live. This Halloween, don’t miss Jacksonville’s most enchanting celebration at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. This much-loved event, Spooktacular, is a safe and exciting Halloween adventure for kids of all ages. The event takes place October 13-15, 20-22, 27-31. Celebrate Spooktacular with:

  • The Pumpkin Patch
  • Wizard of Oz in Range of the Jaguar
  • DJ spinning kid-friendly Halloween music
  • Fall festivities on the Great Lawn
  • Special Spooktacular food menus in each of the Zoo’s two restaurants

  • Sweet Pete’s Candy Trail through Wild Florida

6) 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays: Sliders Spirit Night / Fernandina Beach

Slider’s Seaside Grill is launching Spirit Night every Monday night starting tonight! Bring Your kids for a night of relaxing Live Music, free on-site kids’ activities (For Mom’s and Dad’s pleasure!) including a Kindness Rocks Art Tent. A portion of whatever you purchase at Sliders will go to local schools.

7) 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday: Paisley Grace Designs Toddler Time: Paint & Create / Fernandina Beach

Join Paisley Grace Designs for a mini project (or two!) & fun music. These special toddler painting events are offered at 11 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays all month long. 8) Now through Dec. 12: Special Exhibit: African Americans in World War II at the MOSH / Jacksonville

African Americans played critical roles in ensuring Allied victory in World War II. Both on the home front and in all military theaters of operation, they served with distinction and honor. Learn more in a special exhibit at Jacksonville’s Museum of Science and History.

9) 6 p.m. Friday: Amelia Island Museum of History Ghost Tour / Fernandina Beach

Guests on this tour will learn Amelia Island ghost stories as they tiptoe through dark streets and walk in the footsteps of a bygone era as the past comes alive through the skillful storytelling of your guide. This tour begins at 6 PM every Friday and lasts approximately one hour. Meet your guide in the cemetery behind St. Peters Episcopal church located at 801 Atlantic Avenue. Tickets may be purchased at the Museum for $10.00/adults and $5.00/students or before the tour from the guide with check or cash only. Open to all ages. Pet lovers, this is for you! The 2017 Family Pet Fair and Blessing of the Pets in Jacksonville’s Fletcher Park (Atlantic Ave.) benefits the St. Philip Neri Animal Ministry. It will include a charity “LaundroMutt” and pet costume contest, plus lots of vendors with human and pet food and items, adoptable pets, and much more! Details here.
