Meet the Elves! Local parents share their Elf on the Shelf Pics

You never know where an Elf on the Shelf might appear. We'd love to see pics of your elf's favorite "hiding spot!"

You never know where an Elf on the Shelf might appear.

There’s just something about Elf on the Shelf that children love. Many of us have “adopted” an elf into our families, meaning the elf magically appears in a new spot each morning after reporting to the North Pole each night to let Santa know whether the kids were naughty or nice. We asked readers to share their Elf on the Shelf photos for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to The Book Loft in downtown Fernandina Beach. The Book Loft proudly carries Elf on the Shelf, and they offer tons of great children’s activities, including their beloved monthly story time. Scroll to the bottom of this post to learn more about this popular local bookstore. A huge congratulations to our winner, Julie Farmer of Yulee. Her name was drawn at random from the folks who sent us photos. Speaking of photos, with no further delay, here are some of our favorite Elf on the Shelf pictures. Thank you, everyone, for participating in the fun!

Special thanks to The Book Loft for joining us in this fun giveaway! The Book Loft, which is at 214 Centre Street in downtown Fernandina Beach, is a favorite hub for reading and activities for many local families. On the second Monday of every month, kids come to the bookstore at 10:30 a.m. for their beloved story time, which usually includes a visit with their friendly puppet, Barnacle Bart. Story time features songs and crafts, too. Many local moms plan their schedules around making sure they get their kids to this special event. The Book Loft also occasionally has children’s authors on hand for special readings with kids, which I love. As a child, I remember being absolutely fascinated with real, live authors – and no one can read their books quite as fabulously as they read their own. Recently, the Book Loft has also partnered up with Wild Amelia to offer Junior Naturalist programs. Kids come in for special programs, participating in hands-on activities and learning about our local environment with a naturalist. You can learn more about The Book Loft by signing up for their monthly newsletter. If you’d like to subscribe, just mention it in your Elf on a Shelf photo submission, and we’ll send your email address their way. You can also visit The Book Loft’s Facebook page at facebook.com/thebookloftamelia or call them at 904-261-8991.
