A big congratulations to the winner of our makeover contest, Dawn Lunt, who won her pampering in a battle that was neck-and-neck to the very last minute. Her 964 votes were just enough to edge out our second-place contestant, Trisha Schofield, who had 959 votes!
See Dawn’s Big Reveal at Divas’ Day Out on May 11!
It doesn’t surprise me that all three finalists nominated for our Divas’ Day Out makeover are mamas.
Moms put our kids first, no matter what…. and they keep us busy! Unfortunately, that often means there is no time left to pamper ourselves. No one deserves a pampering more than moms, and I am so excited to introduce the three ladies who are on our list for a pampering this year.
All three of them will walk away from this contest with something: Dana’s Hair Studio in Yulee has generously offered gift certificates for the two runners-up. The winner will get a full beauty overhaul at the salon, a $100 shopping spree and fahsion advice at Retail Therapy Consignment in Fernandina, and before and after photo sessions with Fernandina’s Boston Photography. You can see her big reveal during the Retail Therapy Consignment Fashion Show during Divas’ Day Out on May 11. The fashion show will be at 1 p.m. at our fun benefit for Girl Power 2 Cure at the Atlantic Rec Center in Fernandina.
Our three finalists are Trisha Schofield, Dawn Lunt and Christen Hinson.
Trisha Schofield, Yulee
Nominated By: Her friend Carmen Kohler
Why she deserves a pampering: She is a stay-at-home mother of two who pinches pennies on herself in order to provide more for her girls. She colors her hair at home, paints her own nails, and rarely sets foot in a salon. Trisha adores motherhood, however the age gap between the girls — 12 years — means she is facing the challenges of having a toddler and a teenager all at the same time!
What Carmen told us:
I’d love to nominate Trisha Schofield. She’s one of the sweetest gals I know. She’d give you the shirt off her back. She has two girls Britney (15) and Kiley (3) who are the loves of her life and of course her hubby John. She doesn’t spend as much time as she’d like on herself and would deserve to be pampered!
Dawn Lunt, Fernandina Beach
Nominated By: Her daughter Stephanie Holt
Why she deserves a pampering: She has a whole new body to get used to after losing 100 lbs., but she hasn’t had a lot of time to think about herself because she’s so busy serving the community through Communities in Schools, the Shrimp Festival committee, raising funds for scholarships, and helping fellow Nassau County business women, to name a few.
What Stephanie told us:
Christen Hinson, Camden County
Nominated By: Herself!
Why she deserves a pampering: Christen also has lost weight recently, and that’s not easy to do as a homeschooling mother of four!
What she told us:
Hi, my name is Christen Hinson and I live in Camden County. I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom of 4. Our oldest is 8, then 6, 2 and 10 months. We are blessed with three boys and a girl. I am currently doing the Advocare Challenge and have lost 13 pounds, but am hoping to lose 25 more. I would love to have a makeover not only for myself, but for my husband. I will be turning 30 in June and our 10-year anniversary is in July. It would be a treat for both of us, and I would love to be pampered. As you can imagine, it rarely happens in a home as busy as ours! Thank you for considering me as a candidate and just maybe, I’ll be selected!
Three awesome candidates, and all so deserving of a good pampering! We need your help to choose a winner. We’ll accept votes now through 12:01 a.m. May 1. Everyone gets one vote, so share this with your friends, too!
