There are only so many tutus one little girl can wear.
So when Kingsland mom Chelsey Wendt had loaded her daughter Revi’s wardrobe with her sassy, handmade tutus, she decided to start making them for other little girls, too. In just a matter of months, her business — Tutu Sweet Boutique — is catching on. She’s filling orders for birthday tutus, newborn photo shoots, baby shower gifts and dress-up at day cares. She even makes “tutu accessories” for furniture and highchairs.
One of my favorites is her zebra tutu, which includes pink, black and white fabrics as well as a fun, zebra patterned fabric.
Wendt has lots of ideas for designs — including a number of adorable Halloween costumes — on her business’s Facebook page.
The stay-at-home mom and military wife — originally from Daytona — offers tutus for every size, from newborn to grown adult sizes. Her prices vary depending on the size and detailing of each particular tutu. The simplest of tutus are just $10, while her most complex pieces reach about $40.
