Upcoming Kids’ Events July 27 to Aug. 2

It’s hard to believe school days are just around the corner, but this week is a great time to start preparing. Kids can get free school physicals and supplies in Fernandina, or pick up free school supplies at Jacksonville Landing’s free Back to School Fest, where there will also be free eye exams.

This weekend is also MOSH’s exciting Dozing with Dinos, where kids and parents can spend the night alongside the museum’s massive summer dinosaur exhibit. Later this week, catch The Wiggles in JAX. Crooked River State Park Day Camp Registration Deadline / St. Marys

Kids Day Camp is a one-day only event for children ages 5 – 12 on Tuesday, July 31. You must register your child by today if you want him or her to participate. The 6 hour-day camp features arts and crafts, games and a water gun fight. Kids should bring a snack, lunch, water, towel and water gun/spray bottle. $15.00/child. Call 912-882-5256 .

9 a.m. Paso Fino Extravaganza / Jacksonville

This horse show will draw top competitors from across the Paso Fino division, thus providing the spectators to experience the versatility of the Paso Fino horse. This event is FREE and open to the public. For more information, visit srpfha.com. July 26-29.

12 p.m. Northeast Florida Youth Classic Prospect Steer & Heifer Show / Callahan

This annual two-day show takes place at the Northeast Florida Fairgrounds. Check-in is 12-5 p.m. today, then showmanship will begin at 7 p.m. The Steer Show will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, immediately followed by the Heifer Show. Find out more here.

6 to 8:30 p.m. A Catty Shack Ranch Nighttime Feeding Event / Jacksonville

Stroll the sanctuary with a tour guide and meet all the residents (Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, spotted and black leopards, a serval, two coatimundis and two arctic foxes) plus get a chance to see them eat! 8:45 p.m. Movie Night at Woodbine 110 Park / Woodbine

Bring your lawn chair or a blanket and come enjoy a great movie with family and friends. In the event of rain, the movie will be moved to the Camden County Rec Center Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. instead.

FREE Movie: Up at Wesley Chapel / Hilliard

The public is invited to Wesley Chapel for a free movie screening, which will begin at dark. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and join the fun at the church beside the Hilliard Post Office.

On the second and fourth Saturdays of every month at 10 a.m., kids can build with wood and learn new skills for FREE at Lowe’s. This week’s project is Kung Fu Panda Stacking Friends. These free, one-hour classes are offered monthly through the Island Art Association.
