See the Results of Our Mama Makeover!

Mother of two Shayla Hart won our Divas' Day Out makeover.

Shayla Hart won the Divas’ Day Out Makeover Contest on, and her big reveal was June 9 at Divas’ Day Out, our wildly-fun benefit for Girl Power 2 Cure. She was nominated by her friend, Anna Battista, who said Shayla is the most deserving person she knows. Shayla had a week of pampering that included a $100 shopping spree and fashion advice at Retail Therapy Consignment, before and after photo shoots with Boston Photography, and a day of treatments at CG Studio Salon. All three businesses are based in Fernandina.

Shayla's "Big Reveal" in the Retail Therapy Fashion Show.

The Yulee resident netted a whopping 1,431 of the nearly 3,000 votes that decided our contest. But don’t feel too bad for the other two ladies, also very worthy of makeovers, who didn’t win. Angela Sanders and Jessica Meskimen will both be treated to free mini makeovers from the wonderful CG.

Shayla was elated after shopping at Retail Therapy.

“I’ve discovered a whole new way of shopping,” she told me. “I always thought consignment shops were just for old lady clothes.”

Retail Therapy, which features chic, high-end brand name clothes, is definitely not an old lady store.

When it was time for CG Studio Salon to work its magic, the salon essentially shut down for five hours, dedicating its full attention to Shayla. Stylist Nicole Brown started by taking off some of Shayla’s hair length and giving her layers to add volume. She then gave Shayla’s hair a chocolate tone color by using the ombre coloring technique. She finished off Shayla’s new look by giving her some playful curls. Tracy Fields, in charge of makeup, gave Shayla a natural, glowing look with a very subtle smokey eye and a pop of color on her lips. Robyn Seyfried spiced up her nails by giving her a manicure with a matte black base and a sparkly red and silver abstracted version of a french tip.
Lia Sophia provided Shayla’s jewelry for her big reveal, and Amelia Nanny gave her a free day of babysitting for her two boys so she could relax and enjoy being a diva at Divas’ Day Out.

Congratulations, Shayla!
