Always FREE

Our wonderful community has something free for every kid, including free art classes, animal encounters, meals and more. Here is our list:

Free Art Classes

Every month, Fernandina Beach’s Island Art Association offers free art classes for children. They’re typically the last Saturday of the month. There are sessions for kids ages 6 to 9 and ages 10 to 14. The artists and media involved vary every month. Space is limited, so call ahead of time to register at 904-261-7020.

Free Cookies

The folks at the Publix Bakery and at the Winn-Dixie Bakery love kids so much that they pass out free cookies to youngsters every day. All you have to do is ask, and they’ll give your child a free treat.

Free Critter Talks

The Nature Center at Omni Amelia Island Plantation offers free Critter Talks at 2:30 p.m. every Friday. Show up during the animals’ feeding time for this educational program. Amelia Island Plantation is at 6800 First Coast Highway, Amelia Island, FL. For details, call the Nature Center at 904-321-5082.

Free Meals

We have a whole calendar of free meals for kids, offered at our local restaurants typically with the purchase of an adult entree. Every day, there is at least one place in both Nassau and Camden counties where kids can eat free. Go to our kids eat free calendar to take a look at your options tonight.

Free Playtime

OK, so you have to pay for your kids to play at Fernandina Party and Play. But if you feel like joining in, it won’t cost you a penny extra. For every child, one parent can bounce, jump and play to his or her heart’s content at no extra cost. Look them up in our directory.

Free Workshops

Both Lowes and the Home Depot regularly offer free workshops for kids. Your child can build the featured project and take it home at no cost. The kids also get a free apron and other gear.

Free Museum Entry and Art Class
The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Jacksonville offers ArtFusion most Sundays. It’s a free afternoon program for families with hands-on projects related to MOCA’s exhibits. Learn more at
